The vote on whether Britain should remain in the EU is a once in a generation decision and will impact the future of small businesses across the UK. With the referendum now almost 100 days away, we believe it's essential that small businesses have an opportunity to ask questions about the EU and better understand how it impacts small businesses.
Did you know that:
- The EU provides financing for small firms in the UK in the form of grants, loans and guarantees
- The late payments directive that helps small businesses get paid on time came from the EU
- Of all British small and medium sized businesses that export, 88% do so to the EU
- The EU invests in UK infrastructure, such as roads, which enables businesses to travel easily for their deliveries and access
To ensure that small businesses have access to facts like these, we will be running a series of small business events across the UK from now until referendum day on 23 June.
On 4 April 2016, we will be holding an informal awareness raising event for trade businesses at a central London location. Speakers will include Charlie Mullins, Managing Director of Pimlico Plumbers, Michelle Ovens MBE, Director of Peak B Ltd and representatives from the Britain Stronger In Europe Campaign. There will be lots of opportunities for questions, discussion and networking.
Britain Stronger In Europe is the cross party, cross-sector organisation campaigning for Britain to remain in the EU ahead of the forthcoming referendum. We are convinced that we are stronger, better off and safer in Europe than we would be out on our own.
