Microsoft and Hewlett Packard come out for Remain

Microsoft’s UK CEO Michel Van der Bel has today stated “our view is that the UK should remain in the EU.” In a blog addressed to employees, customers and partners, he said that being in the EU makes the UK one of the most attractive places in Europe to invest.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has also written a letter to its UK employees today stating that leaving the EU would have a “detrimental impact on the long-term prospects for employment, research, investment and innovation in this country.”

Lucy Thomas, Deputy Director of Britain Stronger in Europe, commented:

“Microsoft and Hewlett Packard join a long line of major employers who have made it clear that having access to the EU, the largest single market in the world, is a key reason they choose to invest in the UK.

“The overwhelming majority of businesses, both and large and small, support remaining in the EU.

“Leaving would be a leap in the dark that would make our country permanently poorer, damaging investment and hitting every household to the tune of £4,300 each year.”
